About AS Archive Services
I'm Alison, an archivist based in Glasgow with over 30 years experience in the field.
I decided to go freelance as I felt there should be an easier way for organisations and individuals to get archival work done. And the additional offer of personal filing arose out of experience within my own family.
To give you a bit of background about myself, after a degree in history from the University of Strathclyde, I went on to train as an archivist at the University of Liverpool. During my career, I have worked in local government, national government, university and private sector archives in the UK and New Zealand. Before I became freelance, I specialised in cataloguing projects, for example the records of the Royal Scottish National Hospital at University of Stirling, and since then I have worked on a variety of projects such as cataloguing the records of Glen Grant (see Case Studies).
I am a member of the Scottish Council on Archives, Business Archives Council of Scotland, the Community Archives and Heritage Group and a registered member of the Archives and Records Association.
