My contract at the University of Stirling has drawn to an end. I surveyed the entire collection of the Institute for Retail Studies across three locations on campus as well as two related private collections. I drew up a project report with recommendations; arranged the transfer of core records to the Archive; and liaised with IRS staff on the disposal of those items no longer considered necessary for long term retention. The University Archives organised an exhibition to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Institute using slides taken by Professor John Dawson during the course of his research around the world. The images feature shops and shopping from France to Japan and there is a blog post by Karl Magee, the university archivist, here.
