Institute of Retail Studies survey
Since August I have been working on a survey of the records of the Insitute of Retail Studies at the University of Stirling. The Institute was established in 1983 by Professor John Dawson and the records include his personal papers. Some issues have been the sheer bulk of the collection, too big in its present capacity to be transferred to the Archives, and dupliction across and between different parts of the collection. Highlights have included Dawson's photographs of Romanian shops from the early 1980s and a manual on the selling of corsetry!
