As I said in my last post I have been using my time to do voluntary transcription work on the very wonderful fromthepage.com site. I've been working on a whaling ship's log from the mid-19th century. The ship has been in the Pacific with mixed fortunes in finding whales. The work has meant lots of research on placenames of small Pacific islands though which has been interesting.
At the beginning of June I got an email from the Nantucket Historical Association which holds the collection of ships logs. As I have now apparently worked on over 200 pages of ships' logs, either editing or transcribing, I qualify for honorary membership. And today my membership card arrived! I can get free entry to the Whaling Museum and a discount in the shop. It is nice to be appreciated.
And of course this proves that I am ready and able to do any transcription projects required!
